How to Keep Your Eyes Healthy?

Our eyes help us in seeing and comprehending the world. Even though it is such an important organ, we usually neglect to take care of our eyes and this leads us to problems such as eye pain, dryness, redness, infection, cataract or vision loss. So we must take good care of our eyes to keep them healthy and bright. Lets talk today about the 5 tips to keep healthy eyes. First one – Eye healthy foods Healthy eyes begin with a healthy diet. In addition to Vitamin A which is so much required for our eyes, nutrients like zinc, omega 3, fatty acids, lutein, Vitamin c & e are very important for maintaining eye health. It really prevents age related eye issues such as macular degeneration, and cataracts. To obtain a required amount of nutrients, one should include green, leafy vegetables, apples, pumpkin, carrots, Sweet potato, nuts, beans, citrus fruits and juices in your diet.

Along with eating, such healthy foods keep check on your weight because obesity can increase the risk of diabetes, which can lead to eye problems like diabetic, retinopathy and glaucoma, Second - Less screen time Everyone these days is glued to computer laptop or phone. All these devices transmit light. The blue light in particular is toxic for your eyes, using these devices for a long period can lead to eyes pain, dry eye, blurry vision, headaches and many more. So the best way to deal with this problem is start following 20-20 rule after every 20 minutes, work on your screen. Look at it object far away from your laptop for 20 seconds. Second Point – Blink frequently Don't stare at screens. Continuously blink, now and then and this would prevent dryness. Third – Stay away from screen, at least one hour before sleeping and this would ensure a sound sleep at night. Third tip – Relaxation We use around 40% energy through our eyes, even if we are not looking around our eyes are wide open. Because of all this our eyes, become drained and fatigued for the day. We need to charge ourselves. Just like how we charge, our phone batteries. The simplest way is to rest our eyes.

So every hour close your eyes for a minute or cup your eyes with your palm. At regular interval, washing your eyes, by taking a cup of water, dipping your eyes in water and blinking your eyes works wonders because it washes away the irritants, which are there around because of pollution. And so do this twice or thrice in a day. Personally, I feel that you should form a habit since we are staying in a polluted atmosphere that you should wash your eyes regularly & naturally, you will feel much refreshed, you will look much active and fresh also. Another thing is, when you have to see something, you keep your eyes open. But when you are thinking, I have noticed that still people keep their eyes open and think why do you do that? Why can't you close your eyes and think. So, this awareness about yourself is very much required.

And yoga is a science of awareness along with all these little things, a good night's sleep is very important. I would say most important for your eyes for your optic nerve and for your General Health. Eight hours of quality sleep at night, really helps rejuvenate yourself and your next day morning starts up fresh. Fourth – Eye exercises Our eye muscles don't get enough stretch and exercise because of our neck. If I have to look somewhere here, I would use my neck to look here. I would not look like that. So what am I doing? Because of my neck I'm not giving exercise to all the sets of muscles of my eyes and this can weaken our eye muscles. Eye all different directions, exercise when you are rotating your eyes in different direction help in increasing blood circulation and good amount of oxygen to the area. Good amount of nutrients to this area and automatically that allows toxins to be removed. Simply roll your eyes clockwise, as well as anti-clockwise, at least thrice in the day. After rotating your eyes, close your eyes, and relax for a few seconds. There is one kriya in yoga, which is called Trataka. Practice this trataka regularly. This trataka kriya has multiple benefits. It strengthens eye muscles. It alleviates mild problems, like shortsightedness and does improve vision.

Trataka can be done in 2 ways, one is Bahiranga trataka other is Antaranga trataka. Bhairanga trataka, here we look at the candle at the flame of the candy or take any object in front of you and look at that for some time. Candle gazing is a very arresting and effective technique. Sit in a comfortable position. Stare at a candle flame or any object. Keep that object two feet away from you, the height of the object, should be at the nose level means your eyes should be looking little down and not up. Look at that gaze at an object, till tears come or you feel wetness in your eyes. Be sure not to over strain your eyes you should blink in between while gazing. Second – Sungazing Sungazing should be done only with the rising or setting sun, which is at orange red ball. Look at that ball for sometimes till it rises fully or it till it sets fully. After looking at Sunrise or Sunset, then close your eyes, taking sun rays on your face with your eyes closed after sunrise or Sunset will keep your sinuses really healthy product trataka should be done after the age of 12.

Children below 12 should also take care of their eyes in any case to improve eyesight, they should be taught to roll the eyes around. Play a game with a ball where ball is going here and there up and down, but not using the neck. So this game is very interesting with they play along with it. They really help to improve their eyesight. Sometimes, you should see that you could do that with one eye at a time. Sometimes the numbers between both the eyes are different. So close one eye. As with hand and use other eyes to do these eye exercises and that would help in improving both the eyes correctly. Asanas like Chakrasana, Bhujangasana, Konasana are some of the asanas which person should do regularly. They are all helpful to exercise for your eyes. Fifth Point - Expose yourself to Nature. exposing your eyes to Nature help preventing problems Like myopia or nearsightedness in which nearby objects are clearly visible,

but object further away are blurry. Our bloody natural sunlight or a vibrant colors of leaves and the vastness of the sky, all these can help to improve your eyesight stand or sit near a window gaze at clouds or leaves which are swaying. Here and there because of Breeze stare blankly at the clouds or sky for a while, as an exercise, open your eyes wide and close them. Close them tightly a bit. This itself would give a good exercise to your eyes. It is a proven fact that yoga can help preventing the eye problems and really promoting eye helps regular practice of asanas & kriyas would really help reducing your eye numbers too along with yoga routine. Healthy lifestyle also is required to keep your eyes and the whole body healthy.

In case person, whose eyes are really weak, You can't even see your nail, even at one feet distance, then do this, trataka with your eyes closed. Just Close Your Eyes lightly and look at right side left side up down. I mean, rotate your eyeballs inside and follow all the other tips, which we have mentioned. Don't see object, which is external, except looking at the sky and the trees, but try and do it internally when it comes to tratak exercises. When your eyes are healthy, they are sparkling, then you don't have to talk much. Eyes are talking your eyes are doing quite a lot of your job other than just showing you the world. So it is showing your emotions, also, it is showing your personality also. So try and take care of your eyes and you will be really uplifting your personality.
